Despite the recent riots and demonstrations in Enfield the first Sunday Session on 7 August 2011 was gloriously sunny attracting a family crowd who came with both youngsters and oldies, pets, picnics, bikes and footballs. Despite the clouds becoming overcast and the occasional thunderstorm, most people stayed for to enjoy an afternoon of music by the bandstand on the lake at Broomfield Park, Palmers Green

Due to personal family commitments, I did not have time to organise the Open Mic as a competition this year, but we still had plenty of quality acts turn up to perform!

A regular at our annual events, singer/songwriter Mark Harris performed in the open mic section accompanying himself on acoustic guitar to 9 Million Bicycles (Katie Melua), Oh Very Young (Cat Stevens).

After a short break, The Bear Cat Crawlers took the stage for their first set of traditional New Orleans Jazz. This year the band members were : Chris Marchant (Drums), Roy (Trombone), John Layton (Banjo), Ted Parker (Double Bass), Chris (Cornet) and band leader Robbie Martin (Clarinet).

Set list included : Talk About Me, Bill Bailey, You Always Hurt The One You Love, Ain't Misbehaving, When Your Smiling, When The Saints Go Marching In, Jasmine Blues, Girl of my Dreams, The World Is Waiting For The Sunrise to mention just a few!

Thanks go to all the wonderful musicians, volunteers and audience who braved the weather and stayed until the end!
