Our third Sunday Session on 17th August 2008 at Broomfield Park Bandstand, Broomfield Park, Palmers Green was bright and sunny with the crowd gathering early to see Electric Blues Club members The Haunting A.D. liven up the day with some rockingly good original songs and favourite covers!

Setting the mood for the day, the band launched into great versions of Nutbush City Limits, The Chain, Black Knight and an atmospheric Comfortably Numb to name a few! It was great to see Caroline playing acoustic guitar and harmonica on the odd track to suppliment her excellent vocals which were enhanced by backing vocals from the rest of the band. Scott plays a mean bass guitar which was particularly noticable on Hotel Californa, whilst solid drumming throughout the set from Jim Gardner kept the band tight and sassy. Lead guitarist John's superlative solo's were equally matched by violinist Tracey whose bow was often a blur as it sped through a swift run of notes while they duelled and harmonised with each other .. magical!

During the interval talented local singer/songwriter Freya Ridings, performed some of her original songs and a selection of covers on acoustic guitar to the delight of the audience and family, one of whom was her actor dad Richard Ridings (Common As Muck / Who Framed Roger Rabbit / The Pianist), also a pretty cool singer/songwriter who kindly performed for us all on the opening night fundraiser for Forty Hall! During her set, Freya performed a creditable version of Black Horse & the Cherry Tree, but I much preferred her own songs which were not only lyrically mature for her age but also performed with an honesty and simplicity that made some of the difficult vocal runs and passages appear easy.

After Freya's set The Haunting A.D. returned to the stage with some more rocking tunes, including a couple of great original tracks, followed by crowd favourite, Guns n Roses track Sweet Child O Mine before shifting gear into Stevie Wonders 'Very Superstitious!' Personal favourites of the day were their redition of Slade track Coz I Love You plus original song Losing You and Freya's song Just Words. All in all a great afternoon with plenty of satisified and worn out rockers wending their way home!

The Haunting A.D. line up includes band leader/manager Caroline Hoare aka 'Witchy' (songwriter, lead vocal, rhythm guitar and harmonica), John Hoare (songwriter, lead guitar, backing vocals, musical arrangements), Scott Lomas (bass guitar), Tracey Simmons (acoustic & electric violin, backing vocals) and Jim Gardner (drums).
