The second week of our Sunday sessions was another hot and sunny one with people arriving early to find the right spot and settle in for a musical extraveganza with Norse, Stone Pony and their special guest Brian Nash (Nasher).

The new mini P.A. finally got a work out this week with two singers in the open mic section using their own CD backing tracks. First up was Luena, a talented young girl who displayed marvellous confidence for her age performing The Greatest Love of All, A Whole New World and I Can See Clearly Now followed by Centipede... a young man singing several of his own original reggae compositions. (Apologies but the paper that their names were written on has been lost, and names have escaped me at time of writing .. will post them as soon as poss!)

As an extra treat, x-Blulix guitarist Ted and his new acoustic band the TJ's kept the music going between the main acts with a variety of covers including: Can't Always Get What You Want, Crazy, Wicked Games, You're Beautiful.... Ted, Jeremy and Jo needed some fine tuning in places but overall provided a very pleasant interlude between the breaks. Well done guys!

Support band Norse kicked off the afternoon with a bang performing their mixture of original rock n roll including Your Gonna Miss Me When I'm Gone, Running Without Love and Pull The Trigger to name but a few. Pete on rhythm guitar also supplied great vocals which were complemented by Fred on keyboard plus the core of Stone Pony Noel Martin on lead guitar, Dan Sweeney on bass guitar and Niol Sweeney on drums.

After the first break Brian Nash (Nasher) took the stage with various members of Stone Pony providing the backing for his original tracks from his albums like my personal favourite 'The Dark' with it's brooding stops and searing guitar riffs plus a couple of suprise covers including an excellent rendition of Frankie Goes To Hollywood's track The Power of Love... and Eleanor Rigby (Beatles) what a treat! It was great honor to see him back at Broomfield Park again this year and needless to say he was in great form!! Information on Nashers new album called "A Lo Minimo" can be found at Nashers Myspace and

Stone Pony were as awesome as ever and ensured that the day ended on a high with the audience joining in with their favourites. As all the band members sing, we were kept entertained throughout the rest of the afternoon with some fine tunes and fantastic playing... it was an eclectic set which nobody wanted to end so needless to say the day ran over the alloted time by a few minutes!! I am sure that it comes as no suprise to anyone who has heard them that they are constantly in demand and if you haven't seen any of the above bands before make sure you catch them at one of their gigs soon!!

About the bands:

Brian Nash and Dan Stone Pony North londons hardest working covers band, comprises of Niol Sweeney (drums), Dan Sweeney (bass), C.J. Kelly (guitars) Damien O'Brien (Guitars) And Noel Martin (Guitars), The difference between Stone Pony and other bands is that every member sings so expect a variety of voices and sizes!! They have been together for just under a year now but have all been musicians for most of their lives and played in many different bands.

Stone pony will be supported by Brian Nash (ex Frankie Goes to Hollywood's Nasher) who creates a unique style of rugged pop. his songs are instantly likeable and catchy, with an inspirational lyrical content. You'll love him.

Also playing on the day will be Norse, fronted by the enigmatic Pete Wood. They Are a dirty rock and roll band. with kick ass grooves dished out by Fred and ear bending riffs from Noel. All songs are original but have that old school familiarity. This is north london music at it's very best, not an afternoon to be missed.
