Jam Nights

Jam nights tend to be based around the Blues, mainly due to the ease of playing for all standards, however, most organisers are happy to allow any style of music including the odd original band, but do check before turning up to play.

Some have a 'House Band' who start the evening off and allow you to use their equipment if you play.  Don't go mad on their gear as you'll have to pay for any damages!!

Jam nights are a great place to practice with fellow musicians in a totally different environment.  It allows you work with musicians of all styles and gain confidence in the ability to 'wing it' with people you have never rehearsed with and provides solo performers and songwriters the opportunity to practice their art in front of a sympathetic audience.

As with any event, cancellations or changes may occur so please contact the venue BEFORE traipsing down there!!

Is there anyone else out there in the West London area that would like to meet up once a month for a blues jam night. I am looking for fellow mediocre musicians who would like to chat and play. Nothing too serious having a good time being more important than quality. This is the first time I have done anything like this. I can offer a venue in Northolt very close to the M40. Anybody that is interested please e-mail me and once I have gauged a level of interest I can offer a regular night. Perhaps starting in September.

While you can see the most well known bands performing live at the Camden jazz cafe for 25pounds, just round the corner in Undersolo you can hear the best live session players around roots, funk 'n' soul jamming on a carribean trip for 3 uninterupted hours every Tuesday night for only 5 pounds.

Players from bands such as Incognito, Galliano, Divine comedy, Boney M, Gonzalez, Manfred Man, FBI, Breakfast Band, jamiroquai (just to name a few!) come together to play their favourite classic funk n soul hits with some opportunity for new people to get involved every week!

The first wednesday of every month is a blues jam night with a different host band each month. Petes a friendly bloke & the atmosphere of his regular Thursday night Jams reflects this with their warm atmosphere and great music.  Not too much in the way of equipment and various people provide it so be aware there may not be that second guitar amp that was there last week!!

A good house band made up from a variety of excellent musicians who usually play for the first and last half hour with occasional suprise special guests, often including Big Bill Hurley (Inmates). Get there early to put your name down as it often gets busy and unless you specifically request to be on stage at the same time as your mate/band you'll be mixed and matched with whoever they choose.  Perform 2 - 3 songs depending on time and amount of musicians wanting to have a go.
